Using prefabricated panels to build walls in Costa Rica
Whether you need a new home built, a guesthouse or an add-on to your existing home, the use of prefabricated wall system might just be an option for you. Many wall systems are out there and are available through a couple phone calls.
One of the oldest systems available in Costa Rica is the one including posts and horizontal panels. This system is one of the most cost-effective ones on the market and it provides a strong and durable material. The downside with this system is that the posts are thicker than the walls so they are apparent on the finished surface of the walls.
Another system that came along is the vertical panel with a poured reinforced concrete footer and top ring beam. This system has the advantage of being even and flat on its finished surface and very strong with its poured footer and ring beam. Being fairly cost-effective at purchase and quick to install are surely two advantages of this system. The downside is that the top ring beam is thicker than the walls and normally visible on the upper part of the walls.
The I panel consists of a SIPS (structural insulated panels). Used in many countries it has the advantage of being very quick to install. A little expensive on purchase, the need for specialized tools, and skilled labor are some of the downsides of using this system.
Other systems are on the market if you think that block walls are not the solution for your construction. Don’t hesitate in contacting us if you would like more information on prefabricated panel systems.
